Duke Energy Florida has announced that its solar investments are expected to save customers a total of $1 billion by March 2026. This initiative will result in a 22% reduction in residential electricity
bills, averaging a monthly savings of $44 per household. The savings are primarily attributed to the completion of new solar projects in Hernando, Sumter, and Madison counties, which have avoided $750 million in fuel costs. Additionally, $350 million in savings will come from upgrades at existing power plants. Duke Energy is also exploring green hydrogen as a complementary energy source, with a successful test of green hydrogen production, storage, and combustion at its DeBary site.
