What's Happening?
Ballet Rhode Island is set to present its contemporary program, Pure Dance, at Bristol Community College in April. This marks the company's first performance at the Fall River campus, scheduled for April 25 and 26 at the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center.
The program will feature works by George Balanchine, Christopher Wheeldon, and Yury Yanowsky. Audience members are invited to participate in post-show discussions with the artists, aimed at providing insights into the creative process. The event is sponsored by Bank Five, which is offering discounted tickets to students, reflecting a commitment to increasing arts accessibility in the region. Ballet Rhode Island is currently in its 48th season, performing across various venues in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Why It's Important?
The performance of Pure Dance at Bristol Community College represents a significant effort to make the arts more accessible to a broader audience, particularly students. By offering discounted tickets, the event encourages student engagement with the arts, fostering cultural appreciation and education. This initiative aligns with broader trends in the arts community to reach underserved audiences and promote inclusivity. Additionally, the collaboration with Bank Five highlights the role of corporate sponsorships in supporting cultural events, which can lead to increased community involvement and support for the arts.
