What's Happening?
New Found Glory, a pop-punk band formed in 1997, has released their 11th studio album titled 'Listen Up!' on February 20. This marks their first album in six years and their debut with Pure Noise Records. The album follows their 2023 EP 'Make the Most
of It' and is released during a challenging period for the band, particularly for guitarist Chad Gilbert, who is battling aggressive metastatic cancer. The album features a return to the band's fast-paced, riff-driven sound and includes tracks like 'Boom Roasted' and 'Frankenstein’s Monster.' The band members, including vocalist Jordan Pundik, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Cyrus Bolooki, collaborated on the album's creation at Gilbert's home in Nashville, emphasizing a renewed focus on their musical roots.
Why It's Important?
The release of 'Listen Up!' is significant as it marks a comeback for New Found Glory after a six-year hiatus from full-length albums. The album's creation amidst personal adversities, particularly Gilbert's health struggles, highlights the band's resilience and dedication to their music. This release not only reinforces their presence in the pop-punk genre but also serves as an inspiration to fans and musicians facing similar challenges. The album's introspective themes and energetic sound may resonate with long-time fans and attract new listeners, potentially revitalizing their career as they approach their 30th anniversary.
What's Next?
Following the release of 'Listen Up!', New Found Glory is set to embark on an extensive tour. They will join Yellowcard for the Up Up Down Down Tour, which includes 27 dates across the United States, starting in Atlanta on May 6 and concluding in Springfield, Massachusetts, on June 20. The tour will also feature stops in major cities like Chicago, Denver, Nashville, and New York. Additionally, the band will perform internationally at the Hammersonic 2026 festival in Indonesia and participate in the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus, as well as multiple dates of the Vans Warped Tour.
