What's Happening?
The 36th annual Big Band Dance took place at Ayers’ Gym, marking a significant return after being discontinued in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This event, a beloved tradition and fundraiser for M-A’s music program, featured performances from Hillview
and La Entrada’s jazz ensembles, as well as M-A’s own jazz band and ensemble. Volunteers transformed the gym into an elegant setting with flashing lights and colorful decorations. The night began with performances by La Entrada and Hillview’s jazz ensembles, creating an upbeat atmosphere with songs like 'Pink Flamingo Night' by Dean Sorenson and 'Sing Sing Sing' by Benny Goodman. The event included swing and salsa dance lessons, encouraging attendees to engage with the music. The evening also featured a variety of dishes and a drink bar serving mocktails and soft drinks.
