What's Happening?
Coral Sands Inn & Cottages, a renowned hotel on Harbour Island, has completed the second phase of its extensive renovation project. The real estate and hospitality firm AJ Capital Partners, which acquired
the property in 2024, has been leading this multiphase transformation. The latest renovations include the redesign of all guest accommodations, the addition of a new sea cottage, a padel court, and pool-side cabanas. The property also introduced a Beach Shack offering to-go cocktails and light bites. These efforts build upon the first phase, which was unveiled in December 2025, and included the redesign of 14 garden and sea cottages, a new open-air fitness facility, and refreshed public spaces. The design transformation aims to blend the hotel's storied past with modern amenities, featuring island-inspired murals and custom-made wallpaper that reflect the cultural heritage of the Bahamas.
Why It's Important?
The completion of the second phase of renovations at Coral Sands Inn & Cottages is significant for the hospitality industry, particularly in the Bahamas. By enhancing its facilities and guest accommodations, the hotel aims to attract more visitors, thereby boosting local tourism and the economy. The renovations also reflect a broader trend in the hospitality sector, where historic properties are being modernized to meet the expectations of contemporary travelers. This transformation not only preserves the hotel's legacy but also positions it as a leading destination on Harbour Island, potentially increasing its competitiveness in the global market. The investment by AJ Capital Partners underscores the importance of maintaining cultural authenticity while providing modern comforts, which could set a precedent for similar projects in the region.
What's Next?
The next phase of Coral Sands Inn & Cottages' renovation project includes the construction of a new spa, anticipated to open in 2026. This addition is expected to further enhance the guest experience by offering wellness services that cater to the growing demand for health and relaxation amenities in luxury accommodations. As the hotel continues its transformation, it may attract more high-profile guests and events, contributing to its reputation as a premier destination. The ongoing renovations are likely to draw attention from industry stakeholders and could inspire similar projects aimed at revitalizing historic properties while maintaining their cultural significance.
