BHP, a global mining major, has initiated a series of workshops aimed at enhancing intelligence and collaboration in minerals exploration across sub-Saharan Africa. The first workshop is being held in Johannesburg, co-hosted by the Johannesburg Stock
Exchange (JSE), with additional sessions planned in Namibia, Angola, and Zambia. These workshops target junior mining and exploration companies, academic institutions, and geoscience bodies, aiming to share BHP's insights on global mineral systems and exploration methodologies. The initiative also introduces BHP's Xplor program, which offers $500,000 in equity-free funding and support to early-stage mineral exploration companies. The workshops are led by Dr. Cam McCuaig, BHP's head of global generative exploration, and aim to foster collaboration and innovation in the region's mining sector.
