What's Happening?
Caroline Foro Antunes, known as Carol Foro, has accepted a six-month suspension for violating the UFC Anti-Doping Policy. The Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) announced that Foro tested positive for furosemide, a banned diuretic, from a sample collected
in January 2026. The UFC removed Foro from a scheduled fight in Seattle following the positive test. An investigation revealed that the diuretic was present in a dietary supplement Foro was using, which was not certified by approved third-party programs. CSAD determined that Foro did not intentionally use the substance and reduced her suspension due to her cooperation. Her suspension is retroactive to January 6, 2026, and will end on July 6, 2026.
Why It's Important?
This suspension highlights the ongoing challenges in sports regarding the use of banned substances and the importance of rigorous anti-doping measures. The case underscores the need for athletes to ensure their supplements are certified to avoid inadvertent violations. Foro's suspension impacts her career, removing her from competition and affecting her professional trajectory. For the UFC, maintaining a strict anti-doping policy is crucial to uphold the integrity of the sport and ensure fair competition. This incident serves as a reminder to athletes about the consequences of not adhering to anti-doping regulations.
