What's Happening?
John Neilson, a volleyball coach from Vernon, led the FOG Canada 70s team to a silver medal in the Men's 70 and Over Division at the USA Volleyball Adult Open Championships held in Orlando, Florida. The team, which included two former Olympians and a B.C.
Hall of Fame member, reached the championship game for the second consecutive year. Despite their strong performance, they were defeated by Mountain Fog from California, missing out on the free entry fee for the 2027 tournament. The team finished with an 8-2 overall record, winning 16 out of 20 sets in the preliminary round. Garth Pischke, a member of the 1976 men's national team, was named the tournament MVP, while several other team members were recognized as tournament all-stars.
