What's Happening?
Sig Sauer, in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), is set to commence flight tests for the Fire Storm 250, an armed unmanned aerial system (UAS) quadcopter, in the third quarter of 2026. The Fire Storm 250, which was unveiled at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) conference in October 2025, features a stabilized weapon station and precision targeting system. It integrates Sig Sauer's Micro-Remote Controlled Weapon System (RCWS) with the M250 multicalibre light machine gun, capable of firing 200 rounds of 7.62×51 and 6.8×51 mm ammunition. The quadcopter, based on the Aerotor APUS 60 platform, can remain airborne for up to three hours and is designed for various mission roles, including precision fire support and border
defense.
