Quinta Brunson, the creator, writer, executive producer, and star of ABC's acclaimed comedy series 'Abbott Elementary,' is set to receive the Variety Showrunner Award at the 14th annual SCAD TVfest. The
festival will take place in Atlanta from February 4 to February 6, 2026. 'Abbott Elementary,' produced by Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television, is currently in its fifth season and has garnered multiple award nominations, including the 2026 Critics Choice Award for Comedy Series and Golden Globes for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Brunson has made history with her achievements, becoming the first solo Black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing in 2022 and the first Black actress to win lead comedy actress in over 40 years in 2023. Her continued success includes being the first Black woman to earn three comedy writing nominations for a single series in 2025.
