What's Happening?
Christian retailers in the U.S. experienced a 2.3% increase in same-store sales in 2025, following a 1% decline in 2024, according to the Parable Group's annual report. The report, based on data from 165 Christian retailers, highlights that Bibles and gifts were the top revenue generators, each accounting for 28% of sales. Modern-language Bible translations, such as the New Living Translation, were particularly popular. Despite challenges in inventory management, retailers remain optimistic about future prospects, with devotionals and fiction showing steady sales growth.
Why It's Important?
The modest sales growth indicates a sustained interest in faith-based products, suggesting that Christian retailers continue to play a vital role in their communities. This trend
reflects a broader societal interest in spiritual and religious content, which could influence publishing and retail strategies in the religious sector. The data also highlights the importance of modern-language translations in meeting consumer preferences, potentially guiding future product development and marketing efforts.
