Downtown San Mateo recently celebrated its third annual Boba Day, an event sponsored by Sutter Health and Florian Orthodontics. The festival took place on 3rd Avenue, featuring a variety of activities such as bouncy houses, face painting, and games. Local
boba businesses participated by offering free drinks to attendees who could answer trivia questions or wore specific pop culture attire. The event culminated in a professional boba tasting competition judged by Mayor Adam Loraine, Sanrio store owner Wendy Shu, and Chef Martin Yan. The judges sampled drinks from local stores, with the winning drink receiving a medal and an advertisement in the San Mateo newspaper.
