What's Happening?
NetBIT, the enterprise services unit of Mexican ISP ENI Networks, has partnered with Ciena and Braxem to deploy passive optical network (PON) access technology for Mexican enterprises. This collaboration
aims to drive digital transformation by integrating advanced network architecture into an IP/MPLS transport network. The new infrastructure offers automatic redundancy and high network availability, supporting critical applications like cloud-based ERP systems and AI solutions. The initial phase targets medium-sized businesses in Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, with plans for further expansion.
Why It's Important?
This initiative represents a significant advancement in enterprise connectivity in Mexico, providing medium-sized businesses with access to infrastructure previously available only to large multinationals. By leveraging PON technology, NetBIT can offer cost-efficient, scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness. The partnership with Ciena positions ENI Networks as a leader in innovative connectivity solutions, potentially attracting more businesses to its services. This development could stimulate economic growth and technological adoption in the region.
What's Next?
ENI Networks plans to expand its coverage to additional cities in northern and southeastern Mexico, integrating multiple fiber-optic networks. This expansion will further enhance connectivity options for businesses, supporting their growth and digital transformation efforts. As the infrastructure develops, more sectors may benefit from improved connectivity, leading to increased demand for advanced technological solutions. ENI Networks' approach could set a precedent for other operators in Mexico and Latin America.
