What's Happening?
BASF has launched Liberty ULTRA, a new glufosinate herbicide, in Australia. This product is designed to improve weed control, crop safety, and operational efficiency for growers using post-emergent herbicide programs. Liberty ULTRA utilizes BASF's GLU-L
technology, which enhances herbicide efficacy and improves droplet adhesion and spread for even spray coverage. The herbicide has been tested in the United States and tailored for Australian conditions, showing up to three times greater uptake of the active ingredient compared to generic alternatives. It is registered for use in InVigor LibertyLink canola and has a one-day plant-back interval, allowing for flexible application in various crops.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of Liberty ULTRA is significant for Australian agriculture, as it offers improved weed control and operational efficiency. This can lead to better crop yields and reduced costs for farmers. The herbicide's ability to work at lower use rates reduces handling, storage, and transport requirements, which can be beneficial for large-scale farming operations. Additionally, the product's registration for use in various crops provides flexibility for farmers, potentially leading to increased adoption and improved agricultural productivity.
