What's Happening?
Xali Gold has successfully completed over half of its initial sampling phase at the Pico Machay gold project in central Peru. The company has gathered a total of 125 samples, which have been sent for geochemical and assay analysis. This phase of the project involves
collecting 36 underground samples and 89 surface samples from mineral-rich areas. The initial phase began with geological mapping by the Xali Gold technical team to identify lithological, alteration, and mineralisation contacts. Systematic sampling followed, with lengths typically between 2m and 4m. Underground sampling was conducted in two north-south oriented galleries, while surface sampling involved cutting channels over outcropping mineralisation. The results of this programme are intended to update and potentially enhance the historical resource to a compliant mineral resource estimate by the third quarter of 2026.
Why It's Important?
The completion of this sampling phase is a significant step for Xali Gold as it seeks to update the historical resource estimate at Pico Machay. This could potentially lead to a more accurate assessment of the site's mineral wealth, which is crucial for future economic evaluations and investment decisions. The project's progress also reflects Xali Gold's commitment to advancing its operations in Peru, a country known for its rich mineral resources. Successful completion of this phase could enhance the company's standing in the mining industry and attract further investment. Additionally, the project has garnered community support and is advancing permitting initiatives, which are critical for its long-term success.
What's Next?
The next steps for Xali Gold involve analyzing the samples at ALS Peru using methods such as Atomic Absorption, Fire Assay for gold and silver, and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry for multi-element analysis. The results will help in updating the mineral resource estimate and advancing a preliminary economic assessment. The company aims to complete these updates by the third quarter of 2026. Continued community engagement and permitting efforts will also be crucial as the project progresses. The outcomes of these analyses and assessments will determine the future development and potential profitability of the Pico Machay project.
