What's Happening?
InCoax Networks AB has introduced the D2508 ER, a new platform designed to extend fiber-based broadband over existing coaxial networks in mid- to large-sized multi-dwelling units (MDUs). This system, based on MoCA Access 2.5 technology, allows for high-density
deployments with shared coax infrastructure, delivering symmetrical broadband services up to 2.5 Gbps per coax port. The platform supports up to 248 network termination devices and includes features like eQoS for traffic prioritization. By utilizing existing coax infrastructure, the D2508 ER reduces the need for new wiring, enabling faster deployment and lower capital expenditure. It also coexists with legacy TV services and DOCSIS 3.0, allowing for seamless service upgrades.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the D2508 ER platform is significant for the broadband industry, particularly in urban areas with high-density housing. By leveraging existing infrastructure, InCoax offers a cost-effective solution for upgrading broadband services, which can lead to increased adoption and improved internet access in multi-dwelling units. This technology could accelerate the deployment of high-speed internet, supporting digital inclusion and economic growth. It also presents a competitive advantage for service providers looking to enhance their offerings without extensive infrastructure investments. The platform's ability to coexist with existing services ensures minimal disruption for residents, making it an attractive option for property managers and developers.
