What's Happening?
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System is set to host its 10th annual DINO 5K event, which is scheduled to take place on March 21 at the main library in New Philadelphia. This event is part of the library's celebration of the upcoming summer reading program. Participants will run a route that begins and ends at the library, passing through Tuscora Park. The event encourages participants to dress in dinosaur-themed costumes, adding a fun and engaging element to the race. Registration fees are set at $30 for adults and $20 for children up to age 17, with awards for the top three male, female, and youth participants. Additionally, those who register by February 14 will receive a DINO 5K T-shirt. A new feature this year includes a raffle for dinosaur-themed water
bottles and tote bags.
Why It's Important?
The DINO 5K event serves as a community-building activity that promotes literacy and physical fitness. By tying the race to the summer reading program, the library aims to engage families and individuals in both educational and recreational activities. This event not only encourages reading among children and adults but also fosters a sense of community through shared participation in a fun and healthy activity. The inclusion of themed costumes and a raffle adds an element of excitement, potentially increasing participation and interest in the library's programs. Such events can enhance community engagement with the library, supporting its role as a central hub for learning and community activities.
What's Next?
As the event date approaches, the library will likely continue to promote the DINO 5K to maximize participation. Community members interested in participating can register at any library location, and the library may engage in further outreach to schools and local organizations to encourage involvement. The success of this event could influence the planning of future community events, potentially expanding the library's offerings and outreach efforts. Participants and community members will be looking forward to the event day, which promises to be a fun and engaging experience for all involved.
