Riley Green, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson have been announced as the first performers for the 61st Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. The event is scheduled to stream live on Prime Video on May 17, 2026, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Lainey Wilson, who has won 16 ACM Awards over the past four years, will debut her new single 'Can’t Sit Still.' Cody Johnson will also perform, following his previous win for Song of the Year. The ACM Awards, established in 1966, is the longest-running country music awards show and made history in 2022 as the first major awards ceremony to exclusively livestream. The show will also be available on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and in the Amazon Music app.
Why It's Important?
The announcement of performers for the ACM Awards is significant as it highlights the ongoing popularity and influence of country music in the U.S. entertainment industry. The inclusion of artists like Riley Green, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson underscores their rising prominence and the genre's appeal. The ACM Awards serve as a platform for artists to reach a broader audience, potentially boosting their careers and music sales. The event's exclusive livestreaming on platforms like Prime Video and Twitch reflects the evolving landscape of media consumption, where digital streaming is becoming increasingly central. This shift could influence how future awards shows are produced and distributed, impacting the entertainment industry's business models.
What's Next?
As the ACM Awards approach, additional performers are expected to be announced, which could further increase anticipation and viewership. The event will likely attract significant attention from fans and industry stakeholders, eager to see live performances and the recognition of top country music talent. The success of the livestreaming format may encourage other awards shows to adopt similar distribution methods, potentially reshaping how audiences engage with live events. The ACM Awards will also feature 'ACM Next Wave: Country’s Beach Bash' at Mandalay Bay Beach, adding to the week's festivities and providing more opportunities for fan engagement.
