What's Happening?
Jersey Mike's is partnering with the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games through its annual 'Month of Giving' campaign. Throughout March, customers at 106 Jersey Mike's locations in Illinois can round up their purchases or make donations to support Team Illinois athletes
and the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. The campaign will culminate on March 25 with the 'Day of Giving,' where 100% of the day's sales from Jersey Mike's restaurants nationwide will be donated to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and local state programs attending the event. This marks the second time in the campaign's 16-year history that Jersey Mike's will support a single cause nationwide. Last year, the campaign raised $30 million, contributing to a total of over $143 million raised for local charities since 2011.
Why It's Important?
The initiative by Jersey Mike's highlights the significant role that corporate partnerships can play in supporting major sporting events and community programs. By donating 100% of sales on a single day, Jersey Mike's not only raises substantial funds but also increases awareness and support for the Special Olympics, which provides opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. This campaign can inspire other businesses to engage in similar philanthropic efforts, potentially leading to increased funding and resources for the Special Olympics and similar programs. The funds raised will help cover costs associated with the games, such as travel, accommodation, and equipment for nearly 3,000 athletes competing in 16 sports, including new additions like pickleball and cornhole.
What's Next?
The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games are scheduled to take place from June 20-26 in the Twin Cities, with the University of Minnesota serving as the host venue. As the event approaches, participating athletes and teams will continue their preparations, supported by the funds raised through initiatives like Jersey Mike's 'Month of Giving.' The success of this campaign may encourage other companies to launch similar fundraising efforts, further bolstering the resources available for the games. Additionally, the visibility and support generated by such campaigns could lead to increased public interest and attendance at the games, enhancing the experience for athletes and spectators alike.
