What's Happening?
The Agentic AI sector in India is witnessing rapid growth, with roles expected to expand by 35-40% annually. Despite this growth, there is a significant gap between the demand for skilled professionals
and the available supply, with the gap exceeding 50%. A report by Quess Corp titled 'Is India's Workforce Ready for the Agentic AI Era?' indicates that the market, valued at $276 million in 2024, could reach nearly $3.5 billion by 2030. This growth is driven by increased enterprise adoption and the modernization of automation strategies, marking a shift from short-term projects to long-term career opportunities. Bengaluru and Hyderabad are leading in Agentic AI hiring, accounting for 62% of the demand, followed by Tier II cities like Kochi and Jaipur.
Why It's Important?
The rise of Agentic AI roles in India represents a significant shift in the global technology landscape, positioning Indian talent for crucial roles in global technology strategy and decision-making. This growth not only highlights the increasing importance of AI in enterprise operations but also underscores the need for a skilled workforce to meet the demands of this rapidly evolving sector. The expansion of Agentic AI roles could lead to substantial economic benefits for India, fostering innovation and potentially transforming the country's workforce dynamics. However, the existing skills gap poses a challenge that needs to be addressed to fully capitalize on these opportunities.
