What's Happening?
Phil Rosenthal, creator of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and host of 'Somebody Feed Phil,' has signed a new deal with Banijay Americas to move his food travel series to YouTube. Starting in 2027, new episodes will be available on a dedicated 'Phil Rosenthal World'
YouTube channel, featuring both short- and long-form content. This transition marks the second platform shift for the series, which originally aired on PBS before moving to Netflix. The deal with Banijay includes global distribution rights, aiming to expand Rosenthal's reach across digital platforms.
Why It's Important?
The move to YouTube represents a strategic shift in content distribution, reflecting broader industry trends towards digital and streaming platforms. By transitioning to YouTube, Rosenthal can potentially reach a larger and more diverse audience, leveraging the platform's global reach and user engagement capabilities. This decision underscores the growing importance of digital platforms in the entertainment industry, as creators seek to adapt to changing viewer habits and preferences. For Banijay, this partnership enhances its content portfolio and strengthens its position in the digital content market.
