What's Happening?
Banelec, an electrical control systems specialist based in Brierley Hill, has successfully delivered a £500,000 contract for a bespoke fan case lifter to a global aerospace OEM. This project underscores the West Midlands' role as a hub for high-value
engineering innovation. The fan case lifter addresses a persistent challenge in aerospace production: the safe handling of large, heavy fan case units. The system enables operators to lift, lower, and rotate components with precision, significantly reducing the risk of repetitive strain injuries while improving consistency on the production line. The solution features a coordinated system of three electric-powered jacks controlled via individual panels, with a radio control interface for smooth maneuvering.
Why It's Important?
The successful delivery of this contract by Banelec highlights the competitive edge of UK manufacturers in the global aerospace industry. By addressing manual handling risks, the project enhances operator safety and production efficiency, reflecting a broader industry shift towards smarter, safer, and more sustainable manufacturing practices. This contract strengthens Banelec's reputation as a trusted partner to major industrial brands, showcasing the company's expertise in electrical control systems, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies. The project demonstrates how intelligent automation can make manufacturing more productive, safer, and sustainable, positioning UK firms as leaders in advanced engineering solutions.
