What's Happening?
A team of 15 apprentices at JCB's Rocester factory has designed and built a 'listening bench' to commemorate the company's 80th anniversary. The bench, styled after JCB founder Joseph Cyril Bamford's first product, features built-in speakers that play recordings of the company's history. The project, led by business administration apprentice Lana Hockaday, focused on sustainability by using surplus materials. JCB Chairman Anthony Bamford unveiled the bench, which now serves as a historical and educational feature for employees and visitors.
Why It's Important?
This project underscores the importance of integrating historical appreciation and sustainability in corporate culture. By involving apprentices in such initiatives, JCB not only honors its legacy but also
invests in the development of its future workforce. The project provides apprentices with practical experience in design, teamwork, and problem-solving, enhancing their skills and confidence. Additionally, the focus on sustainability reflects a growing trend in corporate responsibility, aligning with global efforts to reduce environmental impact.
