What's Happening?
The 2026 CISO Benchmark Report, released by the Retail & Hospitality Information Sharing and Analysis Center (RH-ISAC) and IANS, reveals that AI has become the leading concern for cybersecurity leaders in the retail and hospitality industries. The report,
based on insights from over 200 CISOs, highlights that AI-related risks, such as data leakage and insufficient governance, are now more pressing than traditional threats like ransomware. Despite modest budget increases, nearly 90% of CISOs expect to allocate more resources to AI-related security initiatives.
Why It's Important?
The rise of AI as a primary cybersecurity concern reflects the growing complexity of the threat landscape in the retail and hospitality sectors. As AI technologies become more integrated into business operations, they introduce new vulnerabilities that require specialized security measures. The report indicates a shift in focus towards AI governance and the need for enhanced security protocols to protect sensitive data. This trend could lead to increased investment in AI-driven security solutions and influence how organizations prioritize their cybersecurity strategies.
