Pamela Joyner, a renowned art collector, has dedicated her efforts to promoting abstract art by African Americans and members of the global African diaspora. Her collection, which began over 30 years ago,
now includes nearly 600 works and aims to influence the art historical canon to ensure that overlooked artists of African descent are recognized. Joyner's mission-driven approach involves purchasing, showcasing, and lending artworks to museums, as well as ensuring their inclusion in permanent records through catalogues and publications. She has expanded her efforts by creating an artist residency in partnership with the Nevada Museum of Art and serving as a trustee at several prestigious art institutions.
