The Oklahoma Sooners have been included in the top eight schools for Trenton Blaylock, a promising defensive back from the Class of 2027. Blaylock, who is a consensus 3-star prospect and ranked as the No. 49 cornerback by 247Sports, has narrowed his college

During his junior season at Atascocita High School in Texas, Blaylock recorded 29 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, and allowed only two receptions in nine games. He is set to visit Oklahoma officially from June 12-14. The Sooners have been actively recruiting Blaylock, who attended a Brent Venables Football Camp in 2025, where he first caught the attention of the Oklahoma coaching staff.
Why It's Important?
Securing a spot in Trenton Blaylock's top eight is significant for the Oklahoma Sooners as they continue to build a strong recruiting class. Blaylock's potential addition could bolster the team's defensive lineup, given his impressive high school performance. The recruitment of high-caliber players like Blaylock is crucial for maintaining competitive edge in college football, especially in the highly competitive Big 12 Conference. Additionally, Blaylock's family ties to football, with his brother Tory Blaylock already a key player for Oklahoma, could influence his decision, potentially strengthening the team's roster with familial synergy.
What's Next?
Trenton Blaylock is scheduled to make an official visit to Oklahoma from June 12-14, which will be a critical opportunity for the Sooners to make a strong impression. The visit could play a pivotal role in his final decision-making process. Meanwhile, Oklahoma will continue to engage with other top recruits, such as Kamieon Compton-Nero and Jordan Hicks, to further enhance their future team prospects. The outcome of these recruitment efforts will likely shape the team's performance in upcoming seasons.
