What's Happening?
The Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) recently held its fourth annual Imperial County Arts Festival, showcasing the artistic talents of 104 students from 10 schools across the Imperial Valley. The event took place on May 21 at the ICOE’s conference
center, where students from grades 6 through 12 displayed their artwork in categories such as painting/drawing, photography, digital art, and sculpture. The festival concluded with an awards ceremony, where Jayleen Flores from Barbara Worth Junior High and Sebastian Vizcarra from Central Union High School were named overall winners in the junior and senior categories, respectively. The event featured 147 pieces of artwork judged on creativity, composition, and craftsmanship, among other criteria. The festival also included hors d’oeuvres and desserts prepared by culinary arts students from Southwest High School.
