What's Happening?
Perenti has extended its contract with Regis Resources to continue providing underground mining services at the Duketon Operations in Western Australia. This extension will maintain operations until at least March 2029, adding approximately A$180 million
in value over the additional 12 months. The initial alliance agreement, established in April 2024, allowed for annual extensions. Perenti's subsidiary, Barminco, will continue to deliver services including underground development, production, and support without requiring additional growth capital. The Duketon Gold Project, which began production in 2012, is a significant site in the North Eastern Goldfields of WA.
Why It's Important?
The extension of the contract between Perenti and Regis Resources underscores the strong working relationship and mutual trust between the two companies. It provides planning certainty and ensures continued safe and reliable production at the Duketon Operations. This agreement is crucial for maintaining the economic viability of the project and supports long-term value creation for stakeholders, including investors and local communities. The continued operation of the Duketon Gold Project contributes to the regional economy and supports employment in the mining sector.
What's Next?
Perenti and Regis Resources are likely to continue their collaborative efforts to enhance productivity and safety at the Duketon Operations. The extension may lead to further investments in technology and infrastructure to optimize mining processes. As the project progresses, both companies may explore additional opportunities for growth and expansion in the region, potentially increasing their contributions to the local economy.
