Minnie Miñoso, known as 'The Cuban Comet,' is being celebrated for breaking the color barrier in Chicago baseball 75 years ago. On May 1, 1951, Miñoso made his debut with the Chicago White Sox, becoming the first Black major league player in the city.
His career spanned 12 seasons with the Sox, during which he became a nine-time All-Star and won three Gold Glove Awards. Miñoso's impact extended beyond his playing career as he mentored many Latino players and helped bridge racial divides in Chicago.
