What's Happening?
Dajin Heavy Industry, a China-based offshore wind foundations manufacturer, has launched a new 40,000 DWT deck carrier named KING TWO at its Panjin shipbuilding facility. This vessel is the second large-scale deck carrier built at the facility, following
the KING ONE, which has already completed its maiden voyage. KING TWO is designed to transport offshore wind components such as monopiles, jackets, floating foundations, and large offshore engineering modules, supporting turbines in the 15 MW to 25 MW range. The vessel measures 239.8 meters in length, 51 meters in breadth, and 13 meters in depth, with a deck area of 12,000 square meters. It is equipped with dual engines and dual propellers, has a speed of 13 knots, and a range of 16,000 nautical miles. Dajin plans to launch a third vessel in the KING series in May 2026, with both new vessels expected to enter service within the year.
Why It's Important?
The launch of KING TWO is significant as it supports Dajin's strategy to provide integrated services spanning manufacturing, transportation, marshaling, and installation, moving towards becoming an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) provider. This expansion is crucial for the offshore wind industry, which is seeing increased demand for renewable energy solutions. By enhancing its logistics capabilities, Dajin is positioning itself to better serve the growing offshore wind market, which is a key component of global efforts to transition to cleaner energy sources. The development of such specialized vessels is essential for the efficient and cost-effective deployment of large-scale offshore wind projects.
What's Next?
Dajin's continued expansion in the offshore wind logistics sector is likely to attract attention from global energy stakeholders looking to invest in renewable energy infrastructure. The successful deployment of KING TWO and the upcoming launch of the third vessel in the KING series will likely enhance Dajin's reputation as a leading provider of offshore wind logistics solutions. This could lead to increased partnerships and contracts with major players in the renewable energy sector, further solidifying Dajin's position in the market.
