India's electronics manufacturing sector is optimistic about the impact of newly notified labour codes, which cover wages, industrial relations, social security, and working conditions. These codes are expected to enhance employee trust, reduce attrition, and improve health and social protection, thereby increasing women's participation in the workforce. The India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) highlights four key benefits: encouraging more women to join the sector, enhanced skill retention, improved health and safety standards, and better social protections. The codes allow women to work in all roles, including night shifts, with mandatory safety measures, expanding the talent pipeline in semiconductor assembly and manufacturing operations.
The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) also notes that the codes will boost business productivity while ensuring better working conditions for workers.
