What's Happening?
The 24th Annual Wild Game Cookoff took place at the Sandhills Rod and Gun Club in Ellerbe, attracting over 80 participants. Attendees sampled a variety of dishes featuring wild game, berries, and vegetables. The event included categories for meat, desserts,
and wild nuts and vegetables, with dishes like mule deer soup and persimmon pudding. Participants voted for their favorite dishes, and winners were announced in each category. The event also featured a presentation by the Sandhills Chapter of the N.C. Native Plant Society, highlighting the importance of native plants and their edibility.
