St. Cloud State University (SCSU) in Minnesota is set to reinstate its men's and women's golf teams, as well as the men's cross country team, for the 2026-27 academic year. This decision will expand the university's athletic offerings to a total of 20 sports,
comprising eight men's and 12 women's teams. The university plans to hire a new head coach for the golf programs and an assistant coach for the track & field/cross country program. These programs have a rich history of success, with the men's golf team having won 11 conference championships and participated in 13 consecutive NCAA regionals from 2002 to 2014. The women's golf team also has a notable history, having competed in three NCAA regionals and finishing eighth in the NCAA Championships in 2004. The men's cross country team, which was active from 1964 to 2015, won 11 conference titles and achieved national runner-up finishes in the 1967 NAIA and 1983 NCAA Division II finals.
