The Hockey India League (HIL) is set to return for its second season, starting with the women's league in Ranchi from December 28 to January 10. The men's league will follow from January 3 to 26. This season introduces a new team, Ranchi Royals, replacing the defending champions Odisha Warriors, who withdrew from the tournament. The women's league will feature four teams: Ranchi Royals, SG Pipers, JSW Soorma Hockey Club, and Shrachi Bengal Tigers. Each team will play each other twice in the league phase, with the top two advancing to the final on January 10. Matches will be held at Ranchi's Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium. The Royals have retained key players from the Odisha Warriors, including Neha Goyal and Rutuja Pisal,
while JSW Soorma Hockey Club and Shrachi Bengal Tigers have made significant acquisitions in the mini auction.
