What's Happening?
FreightFacts, a Cleveland, Ohio-based freight intelligence company, has launched an incentivized pre-registration program for its new LTL Shipper Score platform. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the less-than-truckload
(LTL) ecosystem by providing data-driven scoring, analytics, and benchmarking tools. The platform, developed in collaboration with leading LTL carriers, offers a FreightFacts Shipper Score that evaluates shipper performance based on 24 metrics, including dwell time, appointment compliance, and payment timing. The program allows shippers to pre-register and receive free reports for up to three locations, using operational data authorized by carriers. This data helps shippers pre-qualify vendors, monitor facility behaviors, and strengthen negotiating leverage with carriers.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the FreightFacts Shipper Score platform is significant as it brings a new level of transparency and accountability to the LTL shipping industry. By providing a standardized scorecard for shippers, the platform helps eliminate operational blind spots that can affect freight rates and accessorial charges. This initiative is expected to improve overall network efficiency and service levels, benefiting both shippers and carriers. The platform's ability to benchmark performance against industry averages offers shippers valuable insights into their operations, potentially leading to cost savings and improved service quality. For carriers, the platform provides relative performance data, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and optimize their operations.
What's Next?
As shippers begin to pre-register for the FreightFacts platform, the industry can expect increased adoption of data-driven decision-making processes. The platform's prescriptive coaching engine, Freight Karma, will offer specific recommendations to shippers, such as reducing dwell time and improving payment speed, to enhance their Shipper Scores. This could lead to a more competitive and efficient LTL shipping market, with shippers and carriers working collaboratively to optimize performance. The success of this platform may also encourage other sectors within the logistics industry to adopt similar data-driven approaches to improve transparency and accountability.
