The Broadband Forum has released a new framework titled 'AI in Broadband Networks' (MR-529), which outlines the integration of artificial intelligence into broadband networks to enhance service delivery and customer experience. This framework envisions
a shift towards service-led broadband environments where AI agents facilitate more natural human-network interactions, such as intelligent chat-based support and contextual digital assistants. The report emphasizes the potential of AI to create self-optimizing networks capable of autonomously detecting and repairing faults, forecasting maintenance needs, reallocating capacity, and reducing energy consumption. The document positions AI as a foundational element for more software-defined and automated broadband infrastructures, aiming to deliver consistent performance and improve customer experience management at scale.
