What's Happening?
Kino Lorber has acquired the North American rights to the documentary 'Soul Patrol,' which premiered at Sundance earlier this year. Directed by J.M Harper, the film is based on Ed Emanuel's bestselling memoir and explores the experiences of the Vietnam
War's first Black special operations team. The documentary uses Super 8 film, archival footage, and interviews to delve into the soldiers' stories and the lasting impact of war. Kino Lorber plans to release the film theatrically in the fall, followed by digital, educational, and home video formats.
Why It's Important?
'Soul Patrol' sheds light on a historically significant yet underrepresented group of veterans, offering a poignant narrative about survival and the enduring effects of war. The acquisition by Kino Lorber ensures that this important story reaches a wider audience, potentially influencing public perception and understanding of the Vietnam War and its veterans. The film's release could also spark discussions about race, military history, and the recognition of minority contributions in pivotal historical events.
