What's Happening?
The Tempo by Hilton Tucson Uptown hotel has reached a significant construction milestone with the completion of its vertical structure. Located at 7400 N. Uptown Dr. in Tucson's Uptown submarket, the five-story, 144-guestroom hotel is part of a larger
2 million-square-foot redevelopment project on the site of the former Foothills Mall. The hotel is scheduled to open in January 2027 and will feature amenities such as meeting and event space, a second-level outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a restaurant. Valencia Hotel Group will manage the property.
Why It's Important?
The development of the Tempo by Hilton Tucson Uptown is a key component of the broader redevelopment of the former Foothills Mall site, which aims to revitalize the area with new residential, retail, dining, and entertainment options. This project is expected to boost local economic activity by creating construction jobs and long-term employment opportunities in the hospitality sector. Additionally, the hotel is anticipated to attract tourists and business travelers, contributing to the local economy through increased tourism and tax revenue.
What's Next?
As construction progresses, the focus will shift to interior buildout and finishing phases to meet the planned opening date. The hotel will need to prepare for operational readiness, including staffing and marketing efforts to attract guests. The broader Uptown redevelopment project will continue to evolve, potentially attracting further investment and development in the area. Stakeholders will be monitoring the project's impact on local real estate values and community dynamics.
