The American Cinematheque has announced the honorees for its 5th annual Tribute to the Crafts, recognizing outstanding contributions in filmmaking. The event, scheduled for January 16 at the Egyptian Theatre
in Hollywood, will honor films such as 'Avatar: Fire and Ash', 'Frankenstein', 'Kpop Demon Hunters', 'Sinners', and 'Weapons'. The Tribute to the Crafts celebrates the work of artisans and craftspeople in 13 categories, with honorees selected by a jury of journalists, film historians, and cinephiles. Notably, production designer Jack Fisk will receive the Career Achievement Award for his work on films like 'There Will Be Blood' and 'The Revenant'. Additionally, the Unsung Hero Award will posthumously honor Andrew J. Kuehn Jr., a pioneer in movie trailer marketing.
Why It's Important?
This event highlights the critical role of behind-the-scenes professionals in the film industry, acknowledging their contributions to the art of filmmaking. By celebrating these craftspeople, the American Cinematheque not only honors individual achievements but also elevates the importance of technical and creative skills in cinema. This recognition can inspire future generations of filmmakers and contribute to the industry's appreciation of diverse talents. The inclusion of a new category for Best Trailer, in honor of Andrew J.
