What's Happening?
Mitchell & Michaels Plat du Jour, a new restaurant offering southern cuisine and live entertainment, is set to open on January 3 at 18031 Dixie Highway. The establishment is the brainchild of partners
David Mitchell, an experienced chef and caterer, and Chris Michaels, who has a background in radio broadcasting. The restaurant aims to provide a dynamic dining experience with a menu that changes daily, featuring dishes such as fried chicken, roasted chicken, smothered pork chops, oxtail, lamb chops, and salmon. The location was previously occupied by a similar business, Culture, which closed shortly after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Michaels had been interested in the site for several years and, after the building was put up for sale, a family member purchased it, allowing the partners to realize their vision. The restaurant will also offer catering services and be available for private events.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Mitchell & Michaels Plat du Jour represents a significant development for the local community, providing a new venue for dining and entertainment. The restaurant's focus on southern cuisine and live entertainment could attract a diverse clientele, contributing to the local economy and cultural scene. The venture also highlights the resilience and adaptability of small businesses in the face of challenges posed by the pandemic. By offering a unique dining experience with a rotating menu and entertainment, the restaurant may set a new standard for similar establishments in the area, potentially influencing the local hospitality industry.
What's Next?
Following the grand opening, Mitchell & Michaels Plat du Jour will operate with specific hours throughout the week, offering both dine-in and catering services. The partners plan to continue refining their offerings and may expand their entertainment options as they establish their presence in the community. The success of the restaurant could lead to further developments, such as additional locations or expanded services, depending on customer response and market conditions. The local community and patrons will likely play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of the establishment.
