The Florida Gators football team is set to hire Brandon Harris as their new defensive backs coach. Harris, who is currently serving as the defensive backs coach at the University of Central Florida (UCF),
has been recognized for his role in developing a secondary that ranked 25th nationally in pass defense, allowing an average of 185.1 yards per game. Harris, 35, has a diverse coaching background, having started his career as a graduate assistant at Florida International University (FIU) in 2019. He later worked as an analyst at Florida State University in 2020, before becoming the cornerbacks coach at FIU in 2021. Harris then moved to Florida Atlantic University, where he served as cornerbacks coach, co-defensive coordinator, and interim defensive coordinator from 2022 to 2024. In 2025, he joined UCF's staff. Harris was also being considered for a position at Florida State University but opted to join the staff of new Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall.
