What's Happening?
Baker Hughes has entered into a 60-month services agreement with Petrobras to provide critical turbomachinery support for Brazil's offshore production and refining operations. The contract includes maintenance, repair, and engineering advisory services for up to 64
aeroderivative gas turbines, such as LM2500 and LM6000 units, deployed across 19 floating production, storage, and offloading vessels, as well as the Replan refinery in São Paulo. These turbines are essential for power generation and mechanical drive, ensuring production continuity across Petrobras' deepwater assets. The agreement, which began in February 2026, is executed through Baker Hughes' service center in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, established in 2010 to support Petrobras. The center plans to expand its capabilities, including advanced grinding technologies, to enhance equipment performance and lifecycle management.
Why It's Important?
This agreement underscores the strategic partnership between Baker Hughes and Petrobras, reinforcing their commitment to Brazil's energy sector. By improving the reliability and operational efficiency of Petrobras' offshore and refining operations, Baker Hughes is strengthening Brazil's energy supply chain. The expansion of the service center's capabilities is expected to bolster Brazil's local supply chain and support workforce development. This investment in lifecycle services and reliability-focused operations is crucial for Brazil's offshore sector, where FPSO-based developments are central to production growth. The deal highlights the importance of maintaining and enhancing infrastructure to support the country's energy needs.
