What's Happening?
Ticketmaster has announced a partnership with CashorTrade, a fan-to-fan ticketing platform, to enhance its face value ticketing options. This collaboration allows Ticketmaster's verified concert tickets to be resold on CashorTrade's marketplace at face value or below,
providing fans with more secure and fair ticket purchasing options. David Marcus, Ticketmaster's executive vice president of music, stated that this integration aims to offer fans more choices and ensure ticket authenticity. CashorTrade, known for its commitment to the Face Value Movement, has been a leader in promoting transparency and fairness in ticket sales. The partnership is expected to expand Ticketmaster's existing Face Value Exchange, which was launched in 2019.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is crucial as it addresses ongoing concerns about ticket scalping and inflated resale prices, which have long plagued the live entertainment industry. By offering more face value options, Ticketmaster and CashorTrade aim to enhance consumer trust and satisfaction, potentially leading to increased attendance at live events. This move could also set a precedent for other ticketing platforms to adopt similar practices, promoting fairness and transparency across the industry. Artists and event organizers may benefit from this approach as it aligns with their interests in ensuring fans have access to reasonably priced tickets.
