What's Happening?
Specsavers, in collaboration with the international short film festival Flickerfest, has launched a public voting competition for its 2026 showcase. The event highlights five finalist films, each offering a unique take on the 'Should’ve Gone To Specsavers' ads. The films will be showcased at Flickerfest’s Bondi event from January 23 to February 1. The winning filmmaker will receive an additional $50,000 on top of their $20,000 prize. Additionally, voters have the chance to win a $1,000 Digital Visa Gift Card. This initiative aims to spotlight emerging filmmaking talent and engage the public in the judging process.
Why It's Important?
This competition underscores the growing trend of involving audiences in the creative process, enhancing public engagement with the arts.
