What's Happening?
Lightship has launched the PowerSled, a self-propelled battery trailer designed for job sites and emergency response situations. The trailer features a lithium iron phosphate battery pack and offers configurations for flatbed, stripped chassis, or enclosed
cargo. It aims to double the fuel efficiency of tow vehicles compared to conventional trailers. Buyers can choose from battery packs ranging from 80 to 240 kilowatt-hours, with the largest version capable of powering operations for at least two days. The PowerSled is already being used by Exedy Drones as a mobile charging and field operations hub.
Why It's Important?
The PowerSled represents a significant innovation in portable power solutions, offering a cleaner and quieter alternative to traditional towable generators. This technology reduces diesel exhaust and noise pollution, benefiting both workers and nearby communities. For emergency response teams, the trailer provides a reliable and efficient power source during grid outages. The introduction of such battery-powered solutions aligns with broader trends towards sustainable energy and could influence future developments in mobile power technology.
