What's Happening?
Fanatics Collectibles has announced a multi-year licensing agreement with the National Football League (NFL) and the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), marking the return of Topps as the official exclusive trading card licensee for
the NFL and NFLPA. This partnership allows Fanatics Collectibles to use official team logos, names, marks, helmet designs, and uniforms, as well as official NFL branding for cards and packaging. The first set under this agreement, the 2025 Topps Chrome Football, is set to release on April 15, with pre-orders starting on April 3. The collection will feature innovative elements such as one-of-one Topps Rookie PREM1ERE Patch Autograph Cards and NFL Honors Gold Shield Autograph Cards. These cards will include patches worn by players during their first official NFL regular-season game and Gold Shields worn by 2024 AP award winners.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant as it brings together the NFL, its players, and a leading collectibles platform to enhance the trading card hobby. By leveraging Topps' expertise and innovation, the collaboration aims to reach fans and collectors globally with unique offerings and experiences. The deal also highlights the growing trading card market, providing opportunities tied to player performance and popularity. This agreement ensures that players are represented in the market's growth, benefiting from the increased demand for trading cards. The inclusion of exclusive athletes and NFL legends in the collection further enhances its appeal to collectors and fans.
What's Next?
To celebrate the return of Topps as the exclusive trading card partner, a multi-faceted interactive celebration of the trading card hobby will take place in Pittsburgh around the 2026 NFL Draft. This event will feature dedicated spaces for fans to learn about the hobby, receive free packs, and watch live pack openings. The celebration will culminate with Collector Celebration Day on April 25 at Acrisure Stadium, featuring special guests and athletes. This initiative aims to engage fans and promote the trading card hobby, potentially increasing interest and participation in the market.
