What's Happening?
Calterah has introduced two new millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar chips and an ultra-wideband (UWB) radar platform aimed at enhancing automotive safety. The Kunlun-Pro and Andes-Pro chips are designed to improve vehicle sensing capabilities, with the latter
being the first 6T6R ADAS radar system-on-chip (SoC) offering a 200-meter detection range. The UWB platform, featuring the CAL1106AQ chip, supports applications like child presence detection and parking assist. These innovations were unveiled at Calterah Day on June 5, 2026, and are part of the company's strategy to meet increasing regulatory demands for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous emergency braking.
Why It's Important?
Calterah's new radar chips are crucial as they address the growing demand for advanced safety features in vehicles. With regulatory bodies like Euro NCAP raising safety standards, automotive manufacturers are under pressure to integrate more sophisticated technologies. Calterah's products offer enhanced detection capabilities, which can improve vehicle safety and potentially reduce accidents. This development is likely to influence the automotive industry by setting new benchmarks for safety technology, encouraging other companies to innovate and adopt similar advancements.
