Vertical Aerospace, a UK-based aerospace company, has successfully completed a full piloted transition sequence with its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) prototype. This significant milestone
was achieved on April 14, 2026, at the Kemble airfield. The maneuver involved the VX4 taking off vertically, transitioning to wing-borne cruise, and then returning to a vertical landing. This accomplishment makes Vertical Aerospace the second company globally, after Joby Aviation, to perform a piloted two-way transition flight in a full-scale tiltrotor eVTOL aircraft. The company emphasizes that this achievement was conducted under rigorous regulatory oversight, marking a critical step in the development of eVTOL technology.
