The University of Florida has announced an ambitious $1.45 billion renovation plan for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, marking it as potentially the most expensive stadium renovation in college football history. The project, which was unveiled on Thursday,
includes a comprehensive overhaul of the stadium's facilities. Planned enhancements feature expanded concourses, upgraded concessions and restrooms, improved accessibility, and elevated premium hospitality experiences. Additionally, the renovation will incorporate advanced technology infrastructure and state-of-the-art video and audio capabilities. The project also aims to revamp multiple team areas, including locker rooms, lounges, training areas, and practice courts. Despite initial expectations, the stadium's seating capacity of 88,548 will remain unchanged to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The renovation is set to begin after the 2026 season, with completion targeted before the 2030 season. The project will be funded through a mix of private donations, capital reserves, project-generated revenues, and long-term debt, pending approval from the Florida Board of Governors.
