What's Happening?
Petro Victory Energy Corp. has announced the discovery of multiple hydrocarbon-bearing intervals in its SJ-12 well, located in the São João field in Brazil's Barreirinhas basin. The well, drilled to a depth of 3,180 meters, revealed approximately 280
meters of gross interval in the Bom Gosto–Arpoador formation. Petrophysical analysis identified 72 meters of net gas pay across five zones, with additional oil shows in shallower intervals. The findings confirm a robust petroleum system with stacked pay potential. Wireline logging and formation testing indicated pressure continuity, supporting the presence of a connected hydrocarbon system. A well testing program is planned to further assess reservoir performance.
Why It's Important?
The discovery in the SJ-12 well is a significant milestone for Petro Victory, marking a major advancement in the development of the São João field. The confirmation of a stacked gas reservoir system enhances the field's potential for multiple productive intervals, which could lead to increased hydrocarbon recovery and economic benefits. This development supports continued appraisal and development activities in partnership with Eneva S.A., potentially boosting Brazil's energy sector. The findings also highlight the importance of technological advancements in exploration and drilling, which are crucial for unlocking new energy resources.
